Delicate flowers need to be wired to keep them standing straight whilst more robust plant material will still look as fresh as a daisy at the end of the day.
Shower bouquets are wired to provide the long stems for the trailing flowers.
Wired bouquets have a slim handle and are lighter than hand tied bouquets, so they are more comfortable to carry.
Once wired, the flowers and foliage in a buttonhole can be adjusted into position. If the stem of a wired flower snaps, there’s no need to worry that the head will fall off as the wire has secured it.
Do remember that hugging is part and parcel of weddings – and buttonholes are perfectly placed to be squashed! Corsages too, if worn by female guests and relatives.
A creative class followed by a cream tea is a lovely experience to gift for a special birthday or celebration. Or treat yourself and enjoy learning something new.
